Islam in a libertarian world The Constitution stipulates religious freedom. No religion is banned. Yet, there is a growing political call for federal laws to limit Islam in the US for fear that Sharia law may be imposed on US citizens who want no part of it. So, either ignore the Constitution or change it. Changing the document is deliberately made difficult. Currently, Congress agrees on very little ... Nor does the electorate. There is another option. The US constitution only limits the federal government not states or individuals. States can limit religion by law. So can people by simply opposing laws (including Sharia laws). In a libertarian world people maximize choices not laws. Libertarian people would reject the imposition of Sharia law as they reject the imposition of other unwanted laws.

"I see the liberty of the individual ... as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” Murray Rothbard |
