Politics As Usual
- is it -
? Cooperation or Exploitation?

Shareholder Capitalism

Shareholders (owners of busineses) satisfy customers. They do this by supplying something people want to pay for. In return these shareholders are rewarded by customers with profit. In this way purchasing choices are made by customers in a free market. "The customer is King"

To illustrate, let's use transportation as an examle. Animals were supplied for transport. So no demand for cars or trucks existed. Only after they were supplied did people chose to buy cars instead of horse drawn coaches. Customer demand for horses, coaches, blacksmiths disappeared. That industry died and a new industry was built to satisfy cutomers not blacksmiths or carriage businesses.

Stakeholder Capitalism

Customers satisfy Stakeholders NOT themselves. To paraphrase J.C. Hopkins:
"Who gives a damn what the customer wants? What’s important is what we want them to want.”

How can one create demand for thnings customers don't want to pay for? In a controlled market Stakeholders profit by removing choices from customers. To illustrate, Imagine life now if blacksmiths, horse breeders and coach builders (transport ‘Stakeholders’) decided to ban combustion engines or mandate only horsepower because “Who needs cars when you already have horses?” … or because cars are not a Public Interest.

" ... all the measures of interventionism by the government are directed toward restricting the supremacy of consumers." (Click here for more)

"In the economic sphere, stakeholder capitalism is a cartel scheme that benefits the compliant and destroys the noncompliant." (Click here for more)

Some also call this Corporatism. See here for more. Others use the term Public-Private Partnership (PPP). See here for more. The Federal Reserve Bank is one example. See here. 'Policy' not 'Customer Satisfaction' decides the allocation of resources and directs supply or demand of products and services. This article explains how what we have now is NOT capitalism. All government expenditures arise from policy because there are not enough satisfied customers to make it work. (click here for one example) "National security policy" is another. "I see the liberty of the individual ... as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” Murray Rothbard
