Socialism

- beware what you ask for-

"Communism, or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite."

Socialism
source

In theory, practice, and outcome, socialism is profoundly anti-social. Here’s why. For a critique of socialism start here.

"Socialism, or collectivism is not cooperative – it is conformity and compliance – enforced by other people." (see here)

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”   – Sir Winston Churchill

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.”  -British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

Socialism only works in two places: Heaven where they don’t need it and hell where they already have it.” – President Ronald Reagan

"That it was all a colossal fraud was obvious all along, or should have been. For anyone willing to see ..."

“How Communism Came to America,”

What Americans Must Know About Socialism

Why socialism fails every time.

So perhaps a desire for “socialism” isn’t just an intellectual failing. It’s actually a moral failing.

Rich socialists sucking the Fed’s teats.

The politics fails economics. Socialists don't understand that you can't distribute stuff from empty shelves. Anyone can demand. Fewer can produce. Demanding stuff first requires someone produce the stuff.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is a seductive slogan. But it's merely a slogan. It does not conform to human behavior. Many people rationalize a Common Good which does not exist. People tell themselves they seek equality. Workers may 'strike' for higher wages in the name of 'equality'. But they never strike to lower wages for equality. They decry someone else's higher profits but never their own higher wages. Yet both profits and wages make stuff more expensive for customers including the poor.

This is socialism now:"From each faction according to its vulnerability, to each faction according
to its ability to confiscate."

"Instead of distributing wealth to equalize society, the new, mutated Marxism calls for a redistribution of power among the identity groups" (Click here for more)

Defining a 'Commons' is just a euphamism for 'socializing' which is a euphamism for 'nationalizing' which is itself a euphamism for 'confiscating'. Stealing is not a sustainable policy. Socializing (confiscating) is not limited to "means of production". Income can be confiscated as well. So can your choices, wealth, and bank accounts. Anything can be confiscated by law - including your life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and of your children (think 'military draft').

So, Where is this impetus toward socialism coming from?

Equality!

"All men are not created equal, and that is the root of social unrest."
Tlaloc, A Time for Titans, From: "Dune, The Butlarian Jihad"

“Everyone in my city was equal in having no running hot water, no modern toilet facilities, no refrigerator, no washer, no dryer, and no color television." Click here.

The Collective

When some societal issue is said to be a ‘collective responsibility’ you can be sure who ever says it doesn’t want to be responsible. Once responsibility is delegated to someone else it is no longer a responsibility. When shifted to someTHING else like a ‘collective’ you expect a 'thing' to be responsible - an impossibility. Caring comes fom within you. It can’t be legislated, nor can effort be decreed.

"I’m convinced that capitalism is the worst economic system . . . except for all the rest.” (Click here for more)

"Capitalism produces wealth (even Marx admitted to that), whereas socialism and socialists simply confiscate and redistribute it." (Click here for more)

"I see the liberty of the individual ... as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” Murray Rothbard
